Day trip from London Warner Bros. Studio Tour (Harry Potter)
The studios at Leavesden where the eight Harry Potter films were made, 20 minutes by train from London Euston plus a 15-minute shuttle bus.
Is Warner Bros. Studio Tour (Harry Potter) worth a day trip from London?
Half a day, if you got tickets.
Worth it for anyone who cares about the films, pointless for anyone who does not. The visit takes 3.5 to 4 hours and the trip is short: 20 minutes by train from Euston to Watford Junction, then a 15-minute shuttle that is included in your ticket. Adult entry is £ 58.50 in 2026. The real obstacle is availability. Tickets are timed, sold in advance only, and popular dates sell out weeks ahead. If the official site is sold out for your dates, the coach packages from London often still have places, at a higher price.

What to see and do in Warner Bros. Studio Tour (Harry Potter)
- 01
The Great Hall
The first set you enter, with its stone floor, house tables and costumes for the teachers. You are led in as a group and get about 10 minutes before moving on.
- 02
Forbidden Forest and Platform 9 3/4
A walk-through forest with Aragog and Buckbeak, then the original Hogwarts Express steam engine. You can board the carriages. Plan 30 minutes for both.
- 03
The backlot
The outdoor halfway point: Privet Drive, the Knight Bus, the Hogwarts bridge and the cafe that sells Butterbeer. It is the only place to sit and eat during the visit.
- 04
Diagon Alley and Gringotts
The bank's marble hall and vault, followed by the full street set with Ollivanders and the Weasleys' shop. The dragon in the wrecked bank breathes fire every few minutes.
- 05
The Hogwarts castle model
A 1:24 scale model of the castle, about 15 metres across, used for the exterior shots. Lighting cycles from day to night every four minutes. It is the last room.

How to spend the day
For an 11:00 entry, take a train from Euston around 09:45 and reach Watford Junction just after 10:00. The shuttle leaves from outside the station at least every 30 minutes from 09:20 and takes 15 minutes. Allow 3.5 hours inside, with the backlot cafe at the halfway point. Take the shuttle back around 15:00 and you are at Euston before 16:00, with the evening free.
Warner Bros. Studio Tour (Harry Potter) in summer and in winter
Summer
June to AugustSchool holidays from late July to the end of August are the hardest time to get tickets, so book two to three months ahead. The sets are indoors and climate has little effect, though the backlot is uncovered and warm at midday. Entry slots run from morning into the evening. A slot after 16:00 is noticeably calmer.
Winter
December to FebruaryHogwarts in the Snow runs from mid November to mid January: the Great Hall is laid for the Yule Ball feast and the castle model is covered in snow. It is the most popular period of the year and sells out early. Late January and February weekdays are the quietest of all. The backlot is cold, so keep your coat on.
How crowded it gets
Very busy- Busiest
- School holidays, weekends and mid Nov to mid Jan, entry slots from 10:00 to 14:00
- Quietest
- Term-time weekdays; the first slot of the day or after 16:00
Numbers are capped by timed entry, so it is busy at any hour. The first slot gives you emptier sets ahead of you. Otherwise let your group move on and linger behind it in each room.

Practical: clothes, food and money
What to wear
Comfortable shoes, since you stand and walk for 3.5 hours on concrete floors. Indoor areas are heated, the backlot is outdoors. Bring a coat in winter and a small bag only, as large luggage is refused.
What to eat
Food is sold at the entrance cafes and at the backlot cafe halfway round, where Butterbeer comes as a drink or as ice cream. Menus are burgers, hot dogs and sandwiches. You may bring your own food and eat it at the backlot tables.
What you will spend
The ticket is the main cost: £ 58.50 for an adult, with the shuttle from Watford Junction included. The train fare is small. Extras add up quickly: the digital guide, Butterbeer, green-screen broomstick photos and the shop. The coach package from € 100.46 costs more but covers transport.
How to get the most out of the day
- Collect the free activity passport for children at the entrance. It has stamps to find in each area.
- The Butterbeer is very sweet. Order one to share before buying a round for everyone.
- There are three shops. The main one by the exit is the largest, so do not queue at the smaller ones.
- Fast trains to Watford Junction leave from Euston's main platforms. The slower Overground from Euston takes about 45 minutes.
